The announcement
Google Cloud introduced its Gemini agent on October 8. The company says the agent can answer questions, create media, and write or run code, while connecting to workplace tools. It describes cloud execution that can continue after a laptop closes, plus reusable skills, context, and task scheduling. Model selection is a separate layer: the announcement describes routing work across Gemini and Claude models. This is Google’s description of an enterprise product, not an independent test of its results or a blanket statement about consumer Gemini accounts.
Our practical take
The interesting shift is how you ask for help. A prompt such as “summarize these notes” describes a step. “Prepare a project update that matches these notes, highlights missing decisions, and includes source links” describes a result. That second approach gives you something concrete to inspect. It also makes the boundary clearer: the assistant should prepare the update, while you decide whether it is ready to share. Good delegation has always depended on a defined outcome; AI makes that habit useful even for a one-person project.
Try this before connecting everything
Our recommendation is a low-stakes rehearsal with a folder of sample documents. Write down what the finished output must contain, how you will check it, and which actions require your approval. Include one intentionally outdated note and see whether the result handles the conflict. Compare the final answer against the files rather than judging its confidence. If the experiment saves time after checking, expand one connection at a time. A useful agent should reduce the work you repeat without making you hunt through extra cleanup afterward. That is a more meaningful win than counting how many apps it can touch.
Try this, then make it yours.
Turn one vague AI request into a brief with a finished deliverable and three acceptance checks.
